28 June 2007 - "And Everything’s So Screwed"

There are just people who are naturally annoying to me and no matter how hard I try to get along with them I just can’t. One person, who I used to get along with very well, I simply can not stand anymore. Point blank. Hatred in its purest form.

I wonder what it is that changes instantaneously to make you loathe a person down to their very core, that makes every single quality they possess make you writhe with anger, clench your fists, bite your tongue and pray to God that you don’t commit a chargeable offence.

I’m a generally angry person, it doesn’t take a lot to annoy me; but then it doesn’t take a lot to get back on my good side, because I can be rather fickle in that sense. However when someone tries to turn my friends against me and tries with all his might to knock my self-esteem, I begin to display the symptoms described above. Can you really blame me? What sort of person feels that it is necessary to be such an awful person? I know I can be a bitch at times, but even I wouldn’t sink that low.

Perhaps there’s just a chemical in that person which stirs something inside my brain, which seems to be screaming ‘Kill’ every time that person comes in sight. Do you think that possible?

I found this quotation on Think Exist:

It is impossible for human beings to be completely at ease.

To some extent, I think that this is true. For me, there has never been a period in my life longer than a week or so where I have been truly content. A period when I haven’t wanted something or didn’t have a quarrel with someone or other. There is constantly something in my life which seems to mess up my head. But if it wasn’t that one thing, it would be something else. So if I wasn’t angry at this one person at this current point in my life, then I would be angsting over something or someone else. However I don’t let my current problems affect my life or how I act, but they are always there.

A final quotation I liked was:

When we don’t know who to hate, we hate ourselves.

So if this quotation is true, I would much rather hate him than myself.

23 June 2007 - "Perfect Wave"

If you’re a regular visitor to this website (ILY!) then you will have noticed that I haven’t updated much in the past five days, well don’t blame me! Blame my mother!

Last Monday I went to a park not far from where I live with some friends. We had an awesome time and by the time I got back home I was absolutely knackered and had a banging headache. This headache was hardly helped by my parents lugging furniture around for the builders, who were coming the next day. I told them to keep it quiet but they told me to go away, so I did. I went for a walk around our neighbourhood and didn’t get back until what they call ‘late’ but what I call 10:30. Anyway, mother over-reacted (as always) and grounded me for a week, but I’ve been let off early on account of good behaviour.

I’ve recently started getting into German bands. If you like rock/pop you should definitely check them out. They’re called ‘Juli’ and ‘Silbermond’. If you have any recommendations for any German, French or even English bands, make sure you leave me a comment!

As you can see I’ve put up a new theme. If you have any feedback let me know! I’m hoping to get up a couple of new reviews in the meantime, so check back for them and be sure to submit if you want to be reviewed. Until later!

11 June 2007 - "Exhale- Another Wasted Breath"

Me and my friend, Lois, were talking today about the effects which the media has on us and it has really made me think. One issue particularly stands out, that being chavs vs. moshers. For those of you who don’t know, a chav is England’s version of a gangster and a mosher (or mosh head) is like a goth.

There was an old man, who is well known in our area for being crazy. He shouts at random people on the streets and always looks drunk. These little chavs were teasing the old man, trying to get him to chase them and pushing him to get a reaction. Me and Lois sat by and watched, saying things like ‘Ooh that’s awful, what’s the point?’ but we never got involved.

Surprisingly, the older chavs who were sat on the opposite side of the precinct from us actually got involved. They asked the man what was wrong and tried to help him out. Well, yeah, he did start having a go at them, but the point is that those chavs, people who I had always considered as vermin, tried to help him before I did.

That was when me and Lois began to ponder why it was that we thought of chavs so negatively. There were the obvious answers, those being ‘They shout stuff at us’, reasons which affected us personally but then Lois brought up a good point. If you live in England then you will know alot about the whole ‘Hoodie debate’. That being, the media has been putting a lot of attention on youths wearing hoodies, basically saying that they’re all gangs who are going to mug you. Not only that but the media constantly bombard with you with things about gangsters/chavs mugging old women and committing other crimes. Now call me stupid, but surely it can’t be only chavs who commit crimes? No, of course it can’t, it’s just that the media chooses to show chavs in a certain light, when not all chavs are like that.

It’s not only chavs which get media attention either; if you read The Daily Mail or are a MCR fan then you will have no doubt read The Daily Mail’s article about emo’s, calling them a dangerous cult which revolves mainly around self-harming. Again, whilst some emo’s might self-harm not all emo’s do.

It’s this sort of attention which strengthens stereotypes and I don’t think it’s right. It makes people who aspire to chavs (and why aspire to be something you’re not?) feel the need to drink, because that’s what they think all chavs do and it makes people who aspire to be emo’s slit their wrists just to fit in with the crowd.

I’ll probably write a lengthened article on this subject with some more examples, ect. As you can see I’ve completed another review and more yet to come. I’ll post above this blog when any new pages/articles/reviews are completed.
